Underrated Shows On Starz According To IMDb

Starz is known for its popular content for a decade. A premium network created high-quality TV series, including political drama, comedy series, and a wide variety of genres. The diversity in the streaming platform and its exceptional production value have made it a competitive network compared to the other premium channels. However, there are plenty of shows, including American Gods, Power, and Outlander, which have high potential but did not get enough attention that they deserve.

P-Valley (2020)

P-Valley is an American drama TV series created by Katori Hall. The series is an adaptation of Hall’s play, Pussy Valley. The film follows several people who work at a strip club in the Mississippi Delta. The movie stars Nicco Annan, Brandee Evans, and Erica Johnson. P-Valley premiered on 12 July 2020 on Starz. It received positive reviews from critics.

The plot follows the lives of employees who work in a strip club called The Pynk in the fictional city of Chucalissa, Mississippi. Hall wrote the stunning neo-noir adaptation. It is a mix of crime drama, realism, and beautifully choreographed dance.

The show received a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 27 reviews for only the first season. And on Metacritic, it scored 85 out of 100 based on 16 reviews.

Survivor’s Remorse (2014 – 2017)

Survivor’s Remorse is an American sitcom aired on Starz. It premiered on 4 October 2014 and concluded on 15 October 2017. The movie’s plot centers around the lives of Cam Calloway (played by Cam Calloway) and his family. Calloway signs a pro basketball contract and moves to Atlanta with his family.

The film was considered too niche for a series and ran for four seasons before the cancellation. The movie scored 82 on Metacritic, which indicates it as “universal acclaim.” The series is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2016 to 2018. It was also awarded by Survivor’s Remorse “Best Cable/New Media TV Show” in 2015 at the African-American Film Critics Association.

The Girlfriend Experience (2016 – present)

The Girlfriend Experience is an anthology TV series created, directed, and written by Amy Seimetz and Lodge Kerrigan. The first season of the show stars Riley Keough in the role of Christine Reade as a law student who works as a high-end escort.

It is a thought-provoking film and has received positive reviews from critics. However, after the release of two seasons, the third season is on a long break. The first season of the series tells the story of a law school student who lands up an internship and struggles to balance the expenses, classes, and workload. Her friend (played by Kate Lyn Sheil) reveals that she works as an escort and encourages her for easy money. Christine begins working as an escort after that.

The second season tells a similar story. The plot is set in Washington, D.C., takes place in the U.S. midterm elections.

The first season of the series received an approval rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 40 reviews with an average of 8.55. It scored 78 out of 100 on Metacritic. The second season got a better response than the first one; on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 78% approval rating with an average score of 9.44.

The above are few shows that were not well received by audiences despite their merits.
