Twitch mainstay GPHustla broke the record for the most extended continuous stream by broadcasting over 1,000 hours in a display of streaming endurance, which was started in the middle of August. 2020 has been a fantastic year for Twitch as the streaming site achieved a lot of milestones. The streaming of the official reveal of the PlayStation 5 drew the attention of 6.1 million viewers in June 2020. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins holds the record of single streamer with 616,693 viewers and last but not least is “Fortnite” who staggered 2,331,987 viewers.
GPHustla is a streamer, who plays everything on Twitch. According to Dexerto his “marathon stream” began in the middle of August when he attempted to broadcast for 24 hours. This attempt became a part of GPHustla’s life. He began to eat during his streams and even began to sleep, but he kept his camera rolling. He loved his work and continued it along with his healthy lifestyle. He is now attempting to become Twitch’s first 24/7 streamer. According to the information, GPHustla is planning to break the world record on January 1, 2021. He also explained this in an interview that he is doing this so that he would not be “alone.” He also added, “as soon as I go offline, I’m now alone again.”
The record of GPHustla was previously held by Reecesy who went online for more than 200 hours and LosPollosTV with 161 hours. However, the true winner of the streaming wars this past quarter was Twitch. One thousand hours watched is an incredible number. This is approximately double the number of hours people were watching its streams. With a bit of insight into the numbers that Twitch has achieved, it might be possible that after buying some of the biggest streamers, it still could not keep up with Amazon’s platform.
Twitch had already broken viewership records in the first quarter of 2020, which surpassed 3 billion total hours watched in a single quarter for the first time. In the second quarter, Twitch again broke several records. In terms of streaming, Twitch drastically jumped from 121.4 million hours to 192.7 million hours. However, Twitch streamers were hit with new RIAA takedown notices that required creators to find out the content by digging out past footages of hundreds of hours because Twitch did not offer quick search tools or bulk deletion capabilities.
After discussing the Twitch streamer GPHustla’s smashing record of going online for 1,000 hours, we have concluded that it is an outstanding achievement and because of this Twitch has become one of the most famous streaming sites, which have achieved a lot of milestones.
