Din Djarin has fulfilled his pursuit, but instead of just being relieved of his responsibilities, he wants to ensure that the kid is with his people. According to him, that should be the Jedi Order. So, when he meets Ahsoka Tano, he makes the case that she should take responsibility for the Child /Grogu. Ahsoka seems to disagree with some of Din Djarin’s views and even tries to argue that the Child is a liability to the galaxy.
Ahsoka admits to Mando in one of her discussions that she is afraid of what the Child’s fear might become if he masters the Force. She is aware of the conflicts that he is going through, and Mando’s emotional attachment will only worsen. He might eventually turn into a villain. She makes the case that her fears are not unfounded and that it has happened with “the best of us” before, obviously pointing to her old Master Anakin. However, her analogy is not right since Master Anakin does not fit into the category that Ahsoka is putting him into.
Although he was indeed quite powerful, one can’t forget his deficiencies not just as a Jedi but also as a person. He was always greedy and selfish. It was his pursuit of power that ultimately turned him into Vader. It is interesting to note that Ahsoka is the best of the bunch, and despite being spoken down to and treated inappropriately, she was able to ultimately break free. She showed herself leadership skills when faced with the Siege of Mandalore and helped the needy instead of just doing her diplomatic duties.
Even in her case, the argument that emotion can make people do evil things to others is contradicted. When she was unhappy with the Order’s teachings and realized that several planets had to suffer because of politics, Ahsoka did not let rage dictate her life’s choices. She channeled all of it into positive quests to liberate the worlds that are oppressed. Therefore, it is not right to defend Anakin by citing his rage as one of the reasons for his descent into darkness. However, this is not surprising since she has always been biased when she had defended him.
Therefore, it is important not to act as if Grogu’s fate is predetermined, which Din is trying to explain. Even though passions drove Ahsoka, she eventually cut a heroic path of her own. It is also a good reason for her to become a teacher for Grogu since she is an ideal liberator. Her progressive, liberal, and open-minded believes something that Grogu can learn from when they meet next time.
