Google One is one of the popular cloud storage services around the world. However, it has been a little unfavorable for the Google family of products since Google charges its Android users for using Google One subscription. Whoever has a Google account knows that they also get access to Google Drive, free cloud storage for all Gmail users. However, Google Drive has a limit of 15 GB, and you utilize it for Google Photos, Gmail, and storing local files.
When a user needs to extend its Google Drive cloud storage, Google offers them to subscribe to the premium subscription-based service called Google One. So, if you select to upgrade your cloud storage, you get access to various premium Google One plans that start with 100GB of cloud storage. You can get up to 30 TB of premium cloud storage with Google One.
Google launched a new feature for the Google One users in September 2019 that allows them to automatically backup their Android phones. Now, the search engine king has announced a surprising addition to the service that Android, iPhone, and iPad users can use the automatic phone backup feature for free.
That means, no matter whether you are a paid user or Google Drive subscriber, you can automatically backup your Android phone to Google’s cloud storage. This feature is also slowly rolling out for the iPhone and iPad users around the world.
Automatically Backup Android Phone, iPhone & iPad to Google Free Storage
According to Google’s new blog post, it is launching an innovative Google One application for both Android and iOS users. It would be free of cost and will allow you to backup your phones to Google’s storage. No matter whether you have subscribed to Google’s premium Google One service or not, you will be able to use your 15 GB free storage for backing up your device.
You will only have to download, install the Google One app and then sign in to Google account. Your phone backup will involve photos, contacts, videos, text messages, local files, and emails at one place.
Bear in mind that if you haven’t subscribed to Google’s paid storage, your data backup limit will remain 15 GB unless you subscribe to Google One paid plans. Also, bear in mind that the paid plans are not too expensive as well. It starts from 1.99 USD per month or 4.39 Australian dollars.
While iPhone and iPad users already have access to similar services such as iCloud, they might still need some more free cloud storage. They would soon get the Google One app for iOS and iPadOS.
Wrap It Up
Where Apple only provides 5GB of free cloud storage only for iOS users, Google is offering 15 GB of free phone backup cloud storage for both Android and iOS users. It might take a while to get this app for iPhone users around the world.
