Physical Structure
Sony FX6 weighs 890 grams and has a dimension of 116 x 153 x 114 mm. So, it is compact and light-weight (890 grams). Hence, it allows the user to use the mobility of the camera. The dual-native technology in cameras helps to extend the dynamic range of sensors. So, the sensor will read two native ISOs and ensure better picture quality. The base ISO is 800 (Cine EI S-Log3). But, the sensitivity can reach ISO 12800. The work of Cine EI S-Log3 aligns with the selection of the best image quality.
SENSORed-Engine
Sony FX6 has a 10.2 Mp full-frame BSI CMOS Exmor R Sensor. A 10.2 megapixel raises the CMOS sensor’s performance because of back-illuminated technology. So, it doubles the light sensitivity and increases the camera’s efficiency. Also, the BSI sensor reduces noise. Hence, it enhances the output. The BIONZ processor amplifies the resolution, auto-focus, auto-exposure, and Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO). As a result, there is auto-correction of optimal exposure and tone reproduction. So, the images will get more luminance and brightness.
Atomos & Card
Sony FX6 carries Atomos Shogun7. Hence, the users will see high production values of RAW and 4K HDR. Other features of Atomos Shogun7 are:
3000 nits
1920 x 1200 resolution
1,000,000:1 contrast ratio
4 SDI Inputs
The user can output the switching live streaming feeds. Switching is asynchronous and eliminates the need for high-cost cameras. So, Sony FX6 is perfect for those who are in the Video Content domain. The CFexpress Type-A cards offer a data transfer rate of 800 Mbps (read) and 700 Mbps (write). It comes in two variants – 80 GB and 160 GB capacity. Sony FX6 also has an SDXC V90 (UHS-II/UHS-I) card. SDXC V90 data rate is slower than that of CFexpress Type-A.
FOCUSing
The enhanced Fast Hybrid AF system combines with a dedicated 627-point phase-detection AF sensor. It covers 95% in width and 94% in the height of the image area. Also, around 50 native E-mount lenses work with Fast Hybrid AF. The Fast Hybrid AF also comes with Face Detection capture.
Capture Best Shots
Sony FX 6 has a frame rate of HD 180 fps. Also, it can capture up to five times slow-motion with 4K (QFHD) 120fps. The electronic variable ND Filters are different from that of conventional rotating filter wheels or polarising ND Filters. Hence, the user will get a seamless and hassle-free recording of images and videos. The S-Cinetone maintains and stabilizes the texture of the picture. But, Sony FX 6 also has S-Log3 and S-Gamut3. They work during the post-production process.
Conclusion
The third edition of Sony in cinema camera line-up is the cool quotient of video-delivery. Sony FX 6 carries immense potential to build an affordable video content market. It is like Daniel Radcliffe’s December Boys. The price of the Sony FX 6 is £5,994.
