SimpleScence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector – Review

If you think that your home is at risk for drips and leaks, then it’s high time you protected it with a smart leak detector so that you can know when the trouble hits. The SimpleSence offers all the basics of alerting to leaks, and you won’t need any extra equipment, including a Wi-Fi hub.

You can even test the SimpleSence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector. You just need to set it up next to a dishwasher or any other leaky place. And it will alert you whenever there is a leak. Well, it’s quite simple to set up.

How to Set Up the SimpleSence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector

You can set up the SimpleSence, and it won’t take more than 5 minutes. First, you have to download the app. Once you do it, touch the metal bars on the side of the detector to wake it up to pair with your smartphone. And even pairing will not take more than 5 to 8 seconds. Now just enter the detector name of any location along with your Wi-Fi network information.

After that, you will have to place the SimpleSence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector wherever you expect the leak. The detector’s dimensions are 4.75 × 2.75 × 0.75 inches. So you can’t place it anywhere you want. It offers you limited placement options compared to other devices available in the market. The device is not wall-mountable, so make sure that you have space to fit the device on a horizontal surface near your leak locations. You can even see the Wi-Fi signal strength on the device and enter your contact details to get the alerts.

Performance

The SimpleSence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector works very nicely and alerts you with its built-in siren, text messages, and email. The siren is very loud, and you can hear it even a couple of rooms away, but you won’t be able to listen to it if you are on another floor. But the good thing is that you will get the text message alert within 30 seconds.

The device works very nicely, but it doesn’t monitor humidity, so that you might get some false alerts of leaks. However, the device features a paper towel that works decently, but it is not an absolute fix to the problem.

You also get the SimpleSence app that shows you the status of each detector on the device along with the last sent alert. You don’t get any history for leak or freeze alerts. Additionally, the SimpleSence uses two AAA batteries that can last approximately up to two years, you get pre-loaded batteries, and you can easily access them with a screwdriver.

Conclusion

The SimpleSence Wi-Fi Leak and Freeze Detector does its job very nicely. It detects and alerts you about the leaks and freezing temperatures. The device does not have smart home integration, tracking freeze and leak alerts, and a humidity monitor. However, it’s a great option for a basic solution to leak and freeze detection. It’s available for $49.95.
