How to Fix Computer Restarts Several Times During Updates

Installing system updates is extremely important. However, sometimes, the system automatically restarts in the middle of an OS update. This issue is quite bothersome. However, it isn’t difficult to troubleshoot the problem. Read on and apply the fixes mentioned below.

How to Fix Your Computer Will Restart Many Times during Updates

1) Run SFC Scan

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap on the Start menu on your screen, in the search field type “cmd” and then right-tap on “command prompt.” Click “Run as Administrator.”

  2. In the run command-line type “sfc/scannow” and hit “Enter.”

  3. Now you need to wait until the process is finished and then restart your operating system and check for improvements.



2) Use the DISM Command

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap the Windows + X button to launch “Command Prompt” as admin.

  2. In the search field, enter the given command:

DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

  • If DISM cannot obtain the file online, then you need to use your installation DVD or USB. Insert media and then navigate to given command:

  • DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:/C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess

  • Remember to enter the given command:

  • C:\RepairSource\Windows path of your DVD or USB

  • DISM is also a tool like SFC for dealing with several system errors.

3) Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Launch the Settings on your device.

  2. Select “Updates and security” and then click “Troubleshoot.”

  3. Tap on the “Additional troubleshoot” button.

  4. Locate Windows Updates and then select “Run the troubleshooter.”

  5. Now follow the on-screen instruction to complete the procedure.

  6. Restart your operating system.

4) Run System Restore Safe Mode

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. In the windows search field type “system restore” and hit the “Enter” button on your computer.

  2. The computer will prompt you to select a restore point. Launch the menu; click the “System Protection” button, and then select “System Restore.”

  3. Here you need to select any available dates.

  4. Now you need to follow on-screen prompts and revert to the certain restore point.

  5. Now you need to wait until the process is completed.

5) Reset PC

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Launch the Settings application on your device.

  2. Click the “Updates and Security” and select the “Recovery” option.

  3. You can see the first option on your screen is “Reset this PC” tap on “Get started” to proceed.

  4. This feature is an advanced recovery feature that can restore your PC to its factory state.

  5. After the above process, you need to try to update your Windows system.
