Can We Expect A Budget Friendly Successor to Google Pixel 3a Soon?

The tech giant recently discontinued the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, which released in May last year. These were the budget models of the Pixel product line costing between $400-$500 as compared to the Flagship Pixel 3 ($800). This is newsworthy because we haven’t seen any successor to the A-Series which is arguably the popular series from google right now. It was great for people looking for budget-friendly phones giving that value proposition. The pixel branded non-flagship phones have now been discontinued after more than a year.

Even though they made it affordable, Google didn’t compromise on its camera quality. They managed to keep the experience premium by including the Portrait mode tricks and the nightscape. The Pixel 3a increased Google’s sale by almost 100% at the time of its launch. Owing to its success, it wasn’t a surprise when there were rumours of a successor to the Pixel 3a range. Even with leaked images of the 4a repeatedly turning up for months, Google is still yet to confirm the presence of the successor.

This leaves Google users in search of a cheaper Pixel with only the $800 version or the Pixel 3. The official Google site admits that they have sold through their inventory of the 3a and the 3a XL. The only way consumers can get their hands on the discontinued series is through a third-party seller. There still might be a few of the A-series left in the back of the stock with some sellers considering it has been the hottest selling phone of the Pixel series. But will it be right to invest in a 3a right now? I don’t think so. According to the rumours, the Pixel 4a could be a real humdinger.

It is said to feature a crisp 5.8in display but not the clever gesture-recognition technology (originally featured in the Pixel 4) to keep the costs low. This is suggestive of the fact that it may be free of the big bezels, unlike its predecessor. The stock 4a will come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone and other high-security apps (e.g., banking apps). It will be powered by a Snapdragon 730 processor. A 12.2MP Rear Camera and an 8MP front camera is expected in the 4a. Other prominent features also include a headphone jack which has been long lost in the New age of headphones. According to sources, Google has decided to keep it in a similar price bracket as its predecessor between 350$-400$.
