Stand-up comedian and actor Bob Newhart is considering Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock.”
The actor is known for his dry-wit humor and slightly stammering delivery style. Newhart is famous for his comedic monologues, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart. The book became a bestseller and reached number one on the Billboard pop album chart. He later featured as the Chicago psychologist Robert Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show. Newhart played the character of Vermont innkeeper Dick Loudon on the series Newhart. The actor-comedian also appeared as Papa Elf in Elf and as Major Major in Catch-22. Newhart made six guest appearances as Professor Proton on The Big Bang Theory and received the Primetime Emmy Award for the character.
On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson (ring name “The Rock”) is an American-Candian actor, businessman, and retired professional wrestler. He has wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation as a wrestler. Johnson’s debut movie was The Scorpion King. After that, he gave many successful movies including, Tooth Fairy, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Hercules, San Andreas, Central Intelligence, Moana, Rampage, and Skyscraper. He also stars in the Jumanji franchise, appearing in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level.
The actor is engaged with many upcoming projects at their different stage of development. Johnson’s fans are impatiently waiting for his future projects including, the DC movie Black Adam, Netflix actioner Red Notice, and Disney’s Jungle Cruise.
During the recent conversation with THR, Newhart remembered some of his early work was added to the streaming platforms like Google Play, Amazon Prime, and iTunes, including Off the Record and his other 60s stand-up collection. The host asked the actor of the show who he would like to play him in his biopic. Newhart presented a witty answer and proposed the name of former wrestler Johnson’s name. He joked that they both have similar physicality, and often fans confused him with the Rock. His actual words were: “Because of our physical resemblance, I am always confused for him. Fans start talking about wrestling, and I have to say, ‘No, I am not him.”
Johnson playing the role of comedian Newhart will be visually fun to watch. However, it is not likely that the Rock will be playing the character in a potential biopic, as Hollywood pays attention to the look and physical build to portray a real-life character. Makeup and costume make the task easy, but no makeup artist or costume designer can make Johnson resemble Newhart.
