Note: The following contains spoilers for Attack on Titan, Season 4, Episode 6, by Hajime Isayama and Yūichirō Hayashi.
The big war planned by Eren is finally bearing the fruit dibble by the Great Titan War. After mercilessly killing hundreds of children, journalists, and common people with hopes of getting revenge, Eren finally comes face-to-face with the Warhammer Titan, and the owner of this mysterious titan is Willy Tybur’s younger sister Lara Tybur.
How Eren attack revealed the War Hammer Titan
Willy Tybur suspected that something would happen during his speech at the theatre and his death was unavoidable. Willy willfully sacrificed himself to lure out the founding titan, currently held by Eren. Willy’s sacrifice reveals who has been secretly holding the War Hammer Titan, and she is none other than Willy’s younger sister Lara Tybur.
Before the fourth season, many of the AOT’s founding titans were dispersed between Paradis island and the rest of the world. However, secretly, the Tyber family was holding the powers of Warhammer Titan in their family. Thanks to this hidden secret, people feared and respected the Tybut family, and not even once other nations or even other titan holders unfiltered Tybur family premises. But since the war has started and Eren’s genocidal plans are taking shape, Willy finally plans to reveal the owner to the world and help his country to win the last titan war.
The War Hammer Titan vs. Eren
Lara’s Warhammer Titan is a force to be reckoned with, and her abilities are far greater than any of the Nine titans known to the world. In the middle of Willy’s declaration of war speech, Eren transforms into the Attack Titan and squashes Willy by his hand. Before people could understand what happened, Eren rumbles in the theatre, killing thousands of innocent people and the Marian army. Lara remembers her brother’s sacrifice and transforms into the War Hammer Titan. Before she can transform completely, Eren smashes Lara’s head with multiple punches, and she goes down without a fight.
But things change when she wakes up and uses her abilities to create weapons out of thin air and manipulate Eren’s grounds by manifesting crystal spikes on the ground. Eren’s Attack Titan deals a fatal blow, and he comes out of the nape and signals Mikasa to attack Lara’s nape.
What seems like the end of the War Hammer Titan is simply a trick. Lara stands up again and begins her next attack, but Eren gets the scheme, and what seems like her umbilical-like cord is her ready body separated from the body of her titan in an enclosed crystal.
Conclusion
While manga broke the ice and is near the ending, the anime adaptation is far from being finished. With only six episodes aired between 2020-2021, there are tons of plot unfolding to come, and the next chapter will reveal who will win this war and what is the thing that Eren wants in the end. Additionally, the War Hammer Titan has more to show, and if Lara comes out alive from Eren’s hand, Marley might have a chance to bring out Pieck Finger and Reiner Braun to the war.
